RIP CITY BOXING
Rip City Boxing in Portland, Oregon, held the Red Shield Fall Classic Tournament on Saturday, November 4th. Boxers and their teams, families and coaches traveled to fight and claim their championship belts.
When asked about the sport, gym owner James Franco explained the community aspect of boxing. "If you look around the gym you'll understand that everyone here knows each other and everyone cares about on another." Franco believes that the sport is not getting the attention that it should because of stereotypes that come with boxing.
"It's not about hurting the other guy," Mendez Boxer Kason Humphrey says. "I think that the people that give into the stereotype that all boxers are violent need to go to a boxing gym and educate themselves a little bit."
